I have nothing against reflection. We, in the NGO community do it all the time. And no doubt, it is good to reflect on the things that are happening outside and within ourselves. But come to think of it, a witness has spoken that indeed the never-President is in the midst of the "web of corruption" in our country...there have been write-ups and media coverage about this issue against the first couple and their cohorts. Do we need to reflect whether or not to join in the rallies and other activities calling for GMA's exit?! Fine, it is good to look at ourselves and clean our mess before blaming others, but this issue calls for immediate action. We have to hold the corrupt and "evil" accountable for the grave injustice they have done to us, especially to the millions of poor in our country. If we get stuck at reflection amidst these revelations against never-President and her accomplices...if we don't act now, we will definitely lose the battle against evil without even trying to make a fight. If we don't act now, then maybe we deserve to be cheated, robbed, and fooled even by a squatter, like the one in Malacañang today.
I participated in yesterday's inter-faith rally calling never-president Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo to leave Malacañang now. I had mixed emotions. I was happy to see political blocks and partylist groups(Bayan, Sanlakas, Bisig, Akbayan, etc.) coming together once again, and unite (though momentarily) in the call for Arroyo's resignation, ouster, exit, or whatever you call it...for as long as she leaves Malacañang for good. At the same time, I was disappointed to see that very few people participated in the rally. When I asked one colleague why other groups and partylists did not join, she said that some were still reflecting on the situation. Yes, you heard it right, some are still reflecting.
